I want to introduce my friend Julie from Basket Kase Creations 4 U. She is an amazing floral designer; she has made beautiful bouquets, centrepieces and more for Vancouver weddings for 5 years. I asked her a few questions that I though my brides would love to know.
Who are you? Tell me about your company.
I’m Julie & I love flowers.. actually not just flowers but annuals and perennials & green lawns too!! When I’m not creating beautiful arrangements I can be found playing in the dirt. I love growing my own fresh cuts for my bridal & special bouquets but really enjoy attending to my landscaping clients. My favorite piece of equipment is my John Deere riding lawn tractor name “Emerald”.
Basket Kase Creations 4 U is a boutique home based floral studio located in Langley, but will travel wherever the blooms take me. I am passionate about bringing to fruition the client’s dream floral vision with attention to every detail. I love to design with different textures, colors, and large amounts of flowers. Whether it be wedding, special event, or everyday floral I strive to “MAKE IT SO BEAUTIFUL THAT IT WILL BE WORTH REMEMBERING.”
What is the story behind your company name?
“Basket Kase” is a special nickname that my late husband Mark gave to me. Throughout our 17 years together he was always amazed with my multi tasking of assisting in the daily operations of our construction company, while at the same time being able to raise 3 children, (get them to all their multi sporting training and games), compete in dog shows with 2 Rottweilers, & hosting lots of craft parties. After losing Mark in 2010 to Lymphoma I needed to find an outlet for expressing my grief. The beauty in flowers allowed me to grieve but at the same time find joy. I started to enroll in educating myself in floral design and instantly knew that I wanted to share my creativity. My new journey began in 2013 and in honor of all his love & support I named my new venture Basket Kase Creations 4 U.
What do you think the biggest trend in 2018 will be in florals?
Hanging floral chandeliers and wreaths for the wedding party.
What is your all time favourite wedding trend?
Large statement piece – Arch covered in flowers and foliage.
What is your drink of choice?
Grey Goose Vodka with a splash of cranberry & soda 😉
What do you like to do on your day off?
I can be found cheering on my son or daughter at their rugby games or out running or hiking with my other daughter.
Do you have a bucket list location you’d like to do a wedding?
Maui… I’d go crazy with all the vibrant tropical flowers & foliage!
If you could work on a project with anyone, past or present, who would it be?
Past: I would have to say my husband Mark. With his construction and engineering background the creativity would be endless.
Present: I love the design style of 2 of my favorite American designers- Julia Testa, & Holly Heider Chapple.
